Hello children, this is your pastor speaking. As you all know, this blog has been rather dead and when I mentioned 'dead' , I meant the crawling webs of a cyber spider around this blog and its chatbox. The only thing that seems to be doing well is the music chart, courtesy of mods. Still, if you think I'm going to ramble about how life has been, well I'm going to surprise you by not doing so. I now ramble about things that are a pain in the arse for the 'rakyat of TOA'. Firstly, may I congratulate TOA admin for doing a surprisingly good job at the beginning of term. You finally listened to our pleas and came up with a system of a sort. Now what we need next is an online portal for students to check their results ONLINE. Yes, don't be daft to think that we students have no internet access, if you must know...our connections at home/rented-room are faster than the ones TOA provide in school grounds. So get working!

If you don't know, our former HAD lecturer is in Shanghai. I have no real details except her greetings to everyone to keep everything going. I do honestly hope that the earthquakes have not taken a toll on her journey and we all wish her the best of luck in what she's currently pursuing. Kudos to Bryan for joining the MM team, annihilate the rest because you know who you are and what you're capable of. I've receive word that Amir is back on track with a lucky lady beside. Congrats mate...hope you'll do well this term. David, good to have you back mate. It's been a while since we've really talked, I'm glad you're back on track. I honestly do not know what will becometh of 'Diedethians' but I do know that we're right on track and it is our job to do our damn best in all that is put before us. For those of you who may think that everything in life is now mundane, don't give up. Nothing is easy in life, it's the journey that matters. So have fun while progressing towards the next phase. I do not carry a lot of wisdom instead I carry with me the wisdom of all the people that I've met in my journey through life. It is their words that I speak and preach, not my own. Maybe one day I may pass these words to others as I continue my journey. You are all gems and unique is every way, don't ever let things that cannot be controlled beat you. It's a fucking game, online game. Things you cannot control are AI,connection speed, game map and of course, other players. What you can control is your own ability and you will be the one to decide how you will play this game. Skills can be developed and intuitions sharpened, never ever forget the main element of the game; HAVE FUN! Similar in life, in everything that you do, never forget to have a bit of fun. We're all here on this planet not for ourselves only, but also for others. What's gaming without team work?

Whatever you take, be sure to sow back into the world. We, designers have a unique voice in this chaos of a world. Use that to its ultimate advantage. We're the one to speak when nothing can be said, we're the beacons when others are lost. Find your own voice and say it with everything that you've got. Material things of the world are always temporarily. Everything you consume, is being paid dearly by others. So remember that it is our duty to sow back the resources into the world. If everyone takes, soon there will be nothing left to be taken. Wisdom cannot be obtained without experience, so go out and experience life. Every day is a new one full of life and opportunities. So make the best of it. You ONLY live ONCE.

This is the 100th post and I'm proud to dedicate this post to the change that our country has opted for. Congratulations rakyat, we've finally made our voices heard. Enough is enough!! If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the fucking news!! Kudos to Rin for keeping me updated and I know many Diedethians know that this is a brand new start and I'm looking forward to see how this will all work for our progress and the progress of the nation as well. We, the rakyat, are no longer denied our voices and our rights. If you have reached the legal age for voting, this is how you can use your right and make your voices heard. Register and see to it that your rights are used properly. By not bothering to vote, means you are denying your right as a citizen, as a voice, to be heard by the government. You don't have to be involved in political science to vote, if you're not happy by the way things are run in your area; VOTE to make your opnions HEARD! This is how it works! Our voices, the voices of the younger generation, and new voters are important because WE will be the ones to inherit our nation's future! So let's ensure that when we take over, there is still a nation left.

Yes,yes...it is I, again. This is a very brief introduction to something that I think is important and good for most people if not everyone. On the 24th of November 2007, will be 'Buy Nothing Day'. Yes, a day of 'no buying' and giving consumerism a break. As you all should know, we humans tend to over consume and take much more away from Mother Nature than what we give back. Most of us buy,buy,buy and have no idea how it affects the ecological system in the long run. Sure, you might say that buying a newspaper is NO BIG DEAL. Well, the thing is we cut down lots of trees for newspaper and you must know that we cut trees down faster than we recycle paper. You must understand that it's not the buying that bad or harmful, it's just a way of taking a break from our buying habits. It's a way of taking a stand against consumerism where we are expected to spend more and more money on things we hard even use. For a day, try doing something different for a change. Make a commitment to consume less, recycling more and challenging corporations to clean up and be fair. It is true that modern consumerism in many ways offer a great deal of choices, but this shouldn't be at the cost of the environment or developing countries which includes us, Malaysia.

You might laugh it off and wonder if one day is going to make a difference. The point to this event is not for you to just stop buying but to rethink about the items you buy. It is for you to question the impact it has if you buy it and how it affects the environment and other third world countries as well. Always question the products you buy and think twice about whether you really need it before picking the item up. Less consumption means we can not only save money but also save resources as well. Shop less, Live more!! Take a break from being enslaved but big corporations who are out to get your money. YOU should be in charge, not them! You're the one with the cash, so spend it wisely. I'm thinking of putting up 'buy nothing day' posters around sunway so I need some a few pair of hands. Let me know if anyone is interested. For more information here's the site to go.

Just when you thought I've completely shut me trap up about TOA, well you were wrong. Reason behind my constant lagging is of course none other than, TOA,in itself. I have to make this short and simple so let's start with my review of the event. First off, GET A BETTER MC. Having a lad and a lass paired up in topshop clothes (which is not so appropriate might I add) blabbering away instead of getting audiences attention is the first sign of their inability to control the crowd. You two should be dressed up in customes to fit in with the event, not stand out like a pair of meerkats in the bleeding Arctic circle. Next thing, Fadzil...I love you,my friend and I'm sorry your band didn't work out. As far as I know, you guys just murdered the songs and I know it for a fact because MCR fans told me it was not good. I don't even listen to fucking MCR (which is dropping by KL in December), so I guess there is no need for me to mumble any more about it. Next, the Space Cadets. Reminds me of this programme I watched on Channel 4 on British telly, which was an elaborate hoax by the way. Pretty much the same way how we got our 'Angkasawan'. Nevertheless, I did not have a good first impression of the band due to the reviews I heard from Merdeka celebration. They were the criminals who murdered one of my favourite Britpop tune, Song 2. So they've wised up ever since and instead did a rendition of '1979' to Rin's horror.

OK, this is how it goes. Hafiz, if you or any of your cadets are reading this please be reminded that I am only saying this to help you improve. SING DAMNIT! NOT FUCKING MUMBLE! I can't even fucking hear the title of the song '1979' which might I add is what one should hear! Next, I actually liked your 'Island in the sun'. That I will call a 'cover' because I may not be a big Weezer fan but I guess it's a good choice as oppose to 'All The Small Things'. Then you had to fucking do it! Why do you murder British tunes? What have you got against the British music scene?! Why'd you let the guitarist sing 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand'? She obviously cannot manage her vocals, let alone sing. Plus, the beauty of Beatles is their ability to sound candid and pure. This 'rendition' is anything BUT. This is where a harmony back up vocal would come in handy. Not too serious, yet pleasant sounding. The biggest crime of them all to this set is to add a BLOODY FUCKING pop tune! OKOK, so Beatles are Pop too but they are classics! Ri'whateverthefuckhernameis'na is NOT! Singing 'Umbrealla' is the biggest mistake to your set. Decide on your fucking art/music direction!! If you're going pop then start with pop! If you're going all 90's indie then DO ONLY that! I shall reserve Beatles as a trump card because as I have said, they are classics and they go with any set.

So the costume competition has becometh a 'Cosplay' event. Yet, the judges stayed true to the spirit of Halloween, and picked two scariest characters. Dressing up as a 'LaLa' boy/girl DOES NOT make you scary! So don't fucking tell me that you look like a J-Rocker because J-Rockers DO NOT look like that. This is because I have Japanese friends who are REAL J-rockers and you wouldn't even make the rock bottom of the pool. You have insulted them and their culture and I DO NOT take that lightly.

*Sigh* Finally here goes Chris's review of that fateful night. Spoken, I have.

This is the reason why I sometimes despise Globalisation and the effects of it. Yes, I too buy branded materials and when I saw this video, I wished that I had spent the money on something else instead. Know what capitalism and globalisation is doing to us, the people. It helps rich people get richer and poor people poorer. The next time you buy a branded item, make sure you think about the children that made those items, how they were paid and how they are still slaving/labouring under severe conditions.

Like what I did and I might have shown some of you guys the pictures b4... Well, theres big n small , but what ive shown from the pictures.. are the big ones.. I cant actually show d small ones becoz i dun bring my card reader.. and im in indonesia... so yea... Anyway.. I have limited numbers of products right now. All different scenes are only at one quantity each. Some of the scenes are not available, but im making a "menu" and showing u guys when i get back 2 KL. By then if you guys have interests in buying it, you can order it and I will get it for you by the time i get back to Jakarta again on December. Well, this miniature is really fun to do, and its an interest I myself is crazy about. Putting your own efforts to do this and ends up as a great display in ur house. However, if u guys are lazy ol' dudez... then you can get me to install it for you! with a cost ofcourse.. hehehe... Moreover, other than making this miniature urself, its a great gift as well! Xpecially for great creative ppl like y'all... Anyway, the scenes/titles that I currently have are: SMALL: -All small sizes cosist of a frame, backdrop and all materials needed. All items eg. table, chair etc, are done by yourself! (see.. its called DIY...). However, Instruction guides, and PVA glue are also included.

This is a short shout out to all the birthdays that I've missed while I was away from the country. This includes Amir, Zafri and MichelleL. Sorry I was not around but my thoughts go out to all of you. Big hugs and lots of agape love to you guys! Am spending the last remaining night in Siem Reap, flying back to KL tomorrow morning. Will post pictures as soon as I get back.

Have been telling Mother Superior what a great place this country is. The Angkor Temples are absolutely awesome and I know you guys love artsy shite, so Siem Reap is a must-visit site. Been thinking we should actually make a trip up here again so you can be 'wow'ed by the temples yourself. I know it's not a cheap affair (will let you guys know how much I spent as soon as I finish re-counting it) but the gf and I had a blast up here and we're thinking of coming back some time in the future. Still...just to let you guys know, this place rocks even more than Bangkok! *Laughs Out Loud* Till we meet in TOA, I want to know my results! Hey everyone...I guess everybody's taking it nice and slow now that the so called 'relaxed and groovy' term is over. As Mother Superior and I have discovered, there is NOTHING relaxed and 'not-so-groovy' as well. Still, I know some of us are planning trips to travel back home for what may be the longest term break we'll ever get. Last week, we've all gone for a wonderful dinner with Irene @ Italiannie's. I know the pictures are coming up, I'll post them up before I leave Malaysia. But I am however posting some pictures that I took with some Diedethians at Sunway Lagoon yesterday.

I just want to say to everyone, thank you for the wonderful year. As we are fast approaching our second year and we do know that many of lecturers that we met in foundation year are apparently leaving (possibly migrating to greener pastures). For Irene and all other lecturers, may you find what you're looking for and all the best in whatever it is that you plan to do. May we one day meet again, no longer as students and teachers, but as colleagues in this ever changing industry.

Reason: The place is reasonably priced for the portion it serves. The pasta is served in a rather big bowl and it's good for sharing and trying out new pasta dishes. Plus good thin crust pizzas and lots of booze if you fancy them. We'll split the bill when it arrives but if there is more people then I presume the damage is less but just in case bring at least RM70. Please let me know by Monday because I need to reserve tables and I need to know the exact number of people coming. Plus it's a Friday so I want to call them up ASAP.

Lost in Translation

Hey people...how's everything going? I hope assignments have been treating you fine and that you haven't lost your head yet. Still, some of you are expecting me to take a piss at the Furoshiki thingy we had last Friday. Now, why would I do that? *laughs* I thought it was a good thing although not as well managed as it could have been.
For one, why shouldn't the Japanese speaker hold a microphone? You must know that half of the reason besides seeing the demostration for Furoshiki is of course the speaker themselves. They've probably travelled a very long distance to get their message across, so why are you denying them an opportunity to do so? I will have to speak for myself, main reason why I was there was to actually listen to them speak! I understood her fine thank you! Maybe you should give them the chance.
Two, Winnie did a reasonable job at translation. She left out the interesting parts of Furoshiki, the history and the explanation of how individual pieces of furoshiki are unique. Now, if our guest speaker had a microphone I would have caught what she was trying to say. The parts you failed to translate 'IS' the most interesting aspect of Furoshiki. The historical elements that make furoshiki a unique part of Japanese culture. Oh no, you don't want to waste precious time...just get the show on the road. Skip! Skip! Skip! It's a shame that Winnie didn't fully translate to the guests what Rico was saying. I mean come on...just saying '感謝する' is not enough. There were so many things that Rico sid that could have been put to better words, they didn't even know they were about to receive a token of appreciation.
OK, I think I've done enough damage. Please just find a more suitable translator next time. I feel disappointed in a way because the cultural exchange was lost in a few phrases. 今まで言った言葉は申し分けないんがどうしても言わないんとは行けないん。自慢のことに関係がないんだ。本当に自分の心からで、伝わりたいんな言葉である。このワークショップのおかげで色んなことが勉強になったが、通訳しがたはまだ改良できる。Winnie様、お疲れ様でした。また、頑張ってください。

Confessions of a student at fault...

Dear Mr. Lecturer,

This is how I feel I have been a bad student. For the first time for this term, I woke up late. It was my fault that I only slept for 3 hours after doing endless researches for tutorial at 2am and it was my fault that I didn't do it sooner. I'm sure many of my peers have done theirs or just did not bother to do them. Regardless, it was my fault that my time management was poor. As a result I was late for class today. Although it was only 5 - 10minutes, nevertheless my fault it had been. For that, I apologise sincerely and will make it a point to NOT repeat this mistake again.
Now, about you being late. I understand that you had an important mission or had been given a task by the college. I also take into account that you ARE my lecturer and this is probably none of my business, on top of that I respect you because you treat me like an adult. I trust that you are more accomplished in your ways on how you run your day or manage your time and yet again, it is NONE of my business. However, please reconsider what has happened since the start of the term. I find it difficult to respect someone who pays very little attention to other people's time or stress on punctuality only to end up being late themselves. If it had been your intention to come to class ten minutes later so that we can settle ourselves down, we would not find anything significantly wrong with that. I admire the fact that you've even apologised previously about your inability to be punctual. Nobody is perfect, right? We are all but mere mortals bound by mistakes and promises.
My only hope is that you take into consideration how we as students have wasted 4 hours of our time. How some of us have to travel miles, fight through transportation systems and massive rush hour traffic congestions JUST to make it to class ON TIME! Lo and behold, you were not there. As I have previously mentioned, we understand that you have other duties to fulfil in your position. We don't mind if the class was cancelled last minute. What we (or I) fail to comprehend is why are we kept there to wait for you to attend class? If you cannot make it, then just admit that you won't be able to. Is it really so hard to say 'Sorry, I can't make it. Do these assignments for homework and pass it up next week.' ? It would not have pissed us off if you had your tutor give us something to do while waiting for you to appear. It would have (at the very least) made us feel useful and gave us an illusion of completing something for this weeks lesson. We are way behind schedule (according to the one you've given to us) and it's not helping that you've not prepared your lesson before-hand.
You demand us to respect you and we do. I ask that you give us the same respect as a fellow man and future colleague in this industry. If you decide to be adult about it, well so will we. If we weren't, there'd be complaints against you piling on someone's desk. Hopefully we can reach an agreement to this matter, have a good day.

Film Review : Sophie Scholl -The Final Days

It's rare that I decide to just do a review about a film. Have having done '300' and 'Spidy 3' reviews, I am proud to be doing this one. This time, a foreign film. I saw the trailer for this movie when I was in Tokyo on 'Talking Movies' on BBC channel. It was an interesting trailer and the review was very good. Being the political minded person that I am, I've mentally made a note to watch this when it opens in Tokyo. Never did or at least it could've opened after I left the country. Regardless, imagine my surprise when I saw it in the newspapers this afternoon. Without second thoughts, I texted a few Diedethians (if you weren't one of them, sorry. I just didn't think you'd be interested.) Got some replies but in the end, I booked Helmi and I tickets to go see it. We barely made it on time, after running about it different screening rooms (we were lost!) finally being ushered to the right one. There were only 5 of us viewers! Made another mental note to bring my gf here next time for some good foreign films and well...*ahem*ahem* privacy!

Anyway, the film was far better than what I expected. The acting was brilliant and the score was captivating. You have to see it to believe it! This is probably the best film about Nazi Germany since Schindler's List. Plus our heroine, Sophie Scholl, is one of the most admirable and brave icons in history. Yes, it's a true story in case you didn't know. The film is basically about Sophie, Hans and Christopher of the White Rose movement who opposed Nazi Germany. They were students in Munich University and rebelled by publishing leaflets exposing the lies and propaganda of the Nazis, encouraging Germans to oppose the Nazis. The film starts with Sophie and her brother,Hans, being caught red-handed. The film takes viewers on a journey into the last 6 days of their lives and how it was spent being interrogated, bullied, psychoanalyzed and finally executed. The performance by Julie Jentsch was superb and her winning best actress at all three film festivals (Berlin Film, European Film, German Film) is well deserved. I thought she was rather hot but Helmi made a comment that the actual Sophie Scholl herself was rather hot as well. Mmm...I think I 'vill ve going for zee Zherman ' for quite a bit.

Still, I definitely recommend this film even if you don't like war films. This isn't about war, it's about standing up for what one believes in. It is a heart-warming film without the fuzzy feeling. I feel inspired after the film and truly admire Sophie's bravery and her commitment towards her belief. I only wished I was half as brave as her. She puts my so-called courage to utter shame. I will include a link about Sophie Scholl for those of you who would like to know more about this heroine. Mother Superior Chen, make use of the wall behind you and slam yourself against it! It's too bad you didn't watch this instead of what you saw on Friday, you would have truly loved this film.

Hey people, I know that this blog is yet again seriously lagging. Yes, yes...we're all busy and because of the fact that we're not all in the same major; no one can really catch the other's line anymore. Anyway, I just wanted to share a few things(or links) I had in mind with the rest of you. Things that I find interesting that may or may not be of interest/inspiration for you when you do your assignments.

Threadless.com - This is the one site I really want to be a part of, now all I need is time. Sounds like a lame excuse; it is true. Threadless.com is a website selling T-Shirts that are actually really cool and somewhat interesting. How so? Well, they have design competitions all year round + monthly theme. If your design submissions are selected(and voted in high demand by visitors or potential buyers) it will be printed and eventually sold on their website whereas you get some shop credit. Bryan and I's 'music soldiers' T-Shirt is actually featured here, as usual all thanks to the lovely pirates in Thailand we got ours at a much lower price! Not something we're proud of, but oh well. The website is a little confusing at first glance (and slow due to the heavy traffic), once you get the hang of it you'll realize that the designs are brilliant. Seriously, if my t-shirt made a statement; it's far better than any expensive designer labels.

Latest-Art.co.uk - Latest Art is a bi-monthly art magazine freely distributed throughout galleries in the UK. This is one magazine site I discovered by chance. I was browsing by some musicblogs I frequent when 'MusicIsArt' made a short post about Stanley Donwood , one of my favourite artist/designer. You may recognize some of his artwork. He does a lot of album covers and T-shirt designs for Radiohead. Anyway, latest-art.co.uk did an interview with Stanley hence I have since been stalking this site. It features an online flash version(and pdf) of the magazine which is a brilliant thing since I couldn't get my hands on it physically. They have display works by artists featured in their magazine in their gallery section which can either shock or inspire you, maybe even spend some cash on the artist as contact details are given as well.

TokyoArtBeat.com - I practically stalk this site ever since I found out about it in 2004. It was featured in a local art newsletter in japanese which was widely distributed during DesignFesta (which was and still is an excellent art event in Tokyo). For all you 'Japanophiles' and 'Art&Design' junkies, this is a very interesting site for you. I stalk it still to keep up with the art scene in Japan. I've never frequented art galleries before this exposure, ever since I found out how awe inspiring walking about visiting different galleries were, I have this page bookmarked into my mobile so I can access it whenever I have some time off while being out of the apartment. Not only does it feature events and happenings, but it also does reviews on exhibitions and events so you can decide if this is something you'd be interested in. It's also one of the few recommended sites for artists and designers to get recruited into the creative industry. It's a very attractive package in my humble opinion. I know we're not technically in Japan, nevertheless the artworks and reviews are excellent plus it gives you some exposure to Asian creative industry.

HodiauDirekton - A blog collaboration of Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke (in case you don't know who Thom is...lead singer for Radiohead who is quite close to being the God of Wailers). Not much explaination needed for this one. It's a blog and they display their sketches and feature some of their artworks on it. Think of it as an on-going exhibition of their artwork in a gallery known as 'blog'.

So far these are some of the very many links that I stalk on a regular basis(although not every single day). Mostly I stalk individual artists and designers, even some illustration artists that illustrate Sandman. Feel free to pass on some good links if you have any and maybe even post up some of your designs. Plus, Rin and Ting are recruiting aspiring designer Diedethians for a project. Interested? Stars and Designs.

As you've all noticed, there is very little activity here. Reason behind is because everyone is busy doing their own shite, Scott tried to revive the scene. Well, apparently removed it from the blog as I ,for one, find it difficult to understand what it was. So we're all 'nubs' and have no fucking idea what intraweb is. Yes, I guess I 'failed' it because I don't even fucking know what it is to begin with.

Anyway, a few of us attended the StarHunt audition at the auditorium on Wednesday. There were a total of 6 groups/individuals who participated. Marion is right, the auditorium now sounds much worse that it was before. The sound system is shite and I'm sure the participants can testify to that. Chen, Zheng, Danny, Helmi, Sophia, Diana(CD0862) and myself were all present for the event and may I say, it was rather surprising. I will now report the event and still keep my (personal) opinions to myself. It's the past really, I see no point in being a critic. Below are the listed reviews that everyone listed above agreed to.

Group 1 - Stand up Comedy.

General overview: Some had no idea what was going on. He spoke too fast (was probably nervous). Too many distractions created by other people walking in on the performance in FRONT of the crowd, passing by the comedian as he spoke. Jokes are typically Malaysian, relatively neutral.

Group 2 - Sing-A-Long.

General overview: Too bad the sound system is shite, the CD refused to play at first. When it did, it just jerked towards the middle of the song. Reason why I think it was a sing-a-long because Mr.Sinatra voice was louder than the person singing it on the mic. Would have been a better idea to get a minus one track and maybe NOT play the song several times before the actual audition.

Group 3 - Three piece band singing MCR

General overview: I was not here for the performance, (needed to top up my parking limit) but according to Chen it was just a mistake. I shouldn't be saying this but I actually agree that girls just can't do an MCR song in general. I know a few who can and are good at it but the percentage is rather low.

Group 4 - Acoustic Duo

General overview: Surprising. The lead vocalist sounded nervous when she first started, but eventually picked up the pace and had a smashing bridge. Good sounds from the guitarist, very consistant throughout. Words of advice to aspiring singers, ALWAYS warm up your vocal cords.

Group 5 - The band.

General overview: As usual, the band steps in. Started off with an acoustic set, nice sounds but Chen laughed when she saw the lead vocalist's face. (I saw nothing! The bloody pillar was right in front of me!) Next they went into the full swing. The music was good, the vocals just didn't catch up. Could be the mic, then again, could be just the vocalist. Third song was something that totally pissed some LP fans I've spoken to. They apparently bludgeoned the single. Well, I am NOT a LP fan but I agree that it sounds way too grungy for a LP cover. Chen also reckons that the vocalist should choose songs that can accommodates his voice rather than distorts it. Groaning through a mic is not our idea of music, wailing, yes it would be music. All in all, talented musicians with poor choice of songs.

Group 6 - The Mandarin Pop band

General overview: Pure shock! They can really fucking sing! I may not understand a single word their singing but I know they pulled it off really well. Chen, Zheng and Sophia were turning around with nods, they agree that this group was actually good and they enjoyed the performance. I never thought I'd see the day, Pop took over! Shock in deed!

Verdict: Unknown. But I think the Diedethians have already made their choice. We have a winner in our minds.

I assume that everyone has got their results. If you haven't, where the fuck have you been?! Anyway, there are several blacked out names. Bryan, Zafri and I think Alvin, your results are pending. Alvin, I'm only guessing that it's you but I am not sure, so I could be wrong. However, B-man and Z, you guys need to see the registrar. All the best of luck and you know we're doing the gawd thing as we speak. The good news is I think everyone got through L&C, the bad news is NOBODY got an 'A'(sorry Sophia, was actually putting all my hopes on you). My C's were partial my fault because of unfinished assignments. But for L&C, she bloody hated my guts, didn't she? I passed up every single fucking assignment (even for the ones I didn't attend class for...) and a 'C' is what I got. Oh well, fuck it. Can't have everything now, can I?

Just so you know, we are the ONLY class of our batch to get straight 'A's for HAD. Hooi Chiat, I cannot take back what I've said before but what I can do is this, I'm sorry I ever declared war on you.('Big Mouth Strikes Again' by The Smiths comes to mind...) Thank you for everything you've ever taught us and for inspiring us to push beyond what we can see with the naked eye. We 'more than just like' you...(as Rin would say), we 'Laaaaaaarb' you!

I'm sure most of you have heard the good and bad news. Good news is everyone gets what they want to major in. Have been told that AD had massive entires and IL is well, on a low down low! Fret not Sathom, you've got us still. So step up boldly and take your place...you sure as hell deserve it. The 'bad' news is of course, results are only going to be out on Monday. So you will then know whether you've gotten your major or flopped your previous term. I think it's really stupid. Absolutely ridiculous. What is the purpose of raising one's hopes only to dash them and stab them in the gut when they find out they have one of two failed subjects?! And for fuck sake, PUT THE BLOODY RESULTS AND SCHEDULE ON THE FUCKING WEBSITE!! That's what the fucking website is for now isn't it? Or is it just used to lure future students/potential applicants to TOA, say like a welcome mat to a house made of straw? Both the gf and the prime minister (of my household) agrees that having students appear in TOA everyday to ask for results or even having them jam up the SRA on Monday just to get their results/schedules is a result of poor management and an act if little or 'no' common sense! For your information, TOA, my former uni put their results on the website AND have pre-planned their semester schedules ONE, yes...you heard me right, ONE YEAR AHEAD!! Just to make life for students easier, they even made a wap site for our mobiles. Talk about efficiency.

Anyway, let us all do the gawd thing and hope everyone gets what they opt for. Just so you all know, I've never really thanked you guys for anything. But I want you all to know that I appreciate each and every one of you very much, all for your uniqueness and for your creativity. You lot have taught me more than I can ever ask for. Film Review : Spiderman 3

Hello, everyone!
This is your unfriendly collegehood Empress Rin!
And no, I am not in tights.
I wish I could climb walls and swing from buildings.
But I can swing from tree to tree... Provided the tree is like 10cm from reach.
I do not have a lovely girlfriend like Kirsten Dunst, but I do have a husband who can make melodic music for anyone who touches his ebony and ivory keys. Yes, I meant the piano, what were you thinking?
I do not have a best friend who wants to kill me. I have best friends who want to kill me.

Okay, enough rambling.
The real reason why I'm here today is to comment about the latest movie craze 'Spiderman 3'.
Our movie judges which comprises of 4 geeks and a girl went to watch the show.
Chris, Helmi, Helmi's friend, Alex, Ting and I hopped over to our neighborhood Sunway Pyramid to catch the show at 12.30pm.
Overall, the graphics were the only fanciful things in the whole movie.
The rest?
CRAP.
Okay. Maybe Tubby Maguire and his very EMO looking MCR hair was cute.
And Kirsten Dunst in that hot dress.
And Harry... and his dashing smile.

Now we come to the DOWNSIDE OF LELAKI LABAH-LABAH 3!

First of all:
The ENTIRE MOVIE turned out to be an AMERICANIZED VERSION OF A KOREAN ROMANCE SOAP DRAMA!

Okaay. Maybe something like that but CLOSE ENOUGH!
That is hooow bad it was, seriously.

Secondly:
The villains are more sissy-fied than I thought.
Edward Brock. Let me tell you something: This guy looks like a total loser!
I mean, it's like the grown-up version of Draco Malfoy!
He's such a whiny dude, it makes you wonder WHY HE GOT TO BECOME VENOM!
GOSH!
And the Sandmad, he just looks like a dude who has a major face problem!
It's no wonder the cops can recognize him from a mile away!
And why is he so sissy-fied? I don't get it.
It makes us all want to cry looking at how pathetic he is.

Thirdly:
Lame lines.
I tell you, this is what made Spiderman 3 a laughable joke.
Ting and I were laughing our heads off at one scene that we kept rolling from side to side of our chairs.
Example of a hilarious line:
'I hate to tell you this, Pete, but I'm the other man.'
...
What the heck?! ROFL. It made Ting and I laugh like mad, I think the people behind us kinda got annoyed.

So ahaha, I think we should've gotten banned from the cinema =D
After all, they should've banned me when they had a chance at One-U after what my crew and I pulled off during Final Destination 3.
Overall, we were all angry about a few scenes and as Spidey-fans, we all deliberated how lame it was.
But then again, you could never ask much from a sequel and a Comic-Book Character movie.
I mean, look at how they killed X-Men!
Thank goodness they didn't put Gambit in any o' them. I swear, I'd hang myself by the neck.

So the Verdict from our Movie-goers were!

Helmi: ... ... ...

Ting: I'm the other man. ROFL.

Rin: This is as lame as hell, and I'm the other man! ROFL! Seriously, go waste your money on something else worth watching. Save money for Pirates of the Currybean 3 and The Good Sherperd! Believe me when I say that. Save RM8 today, get a RM fountain tomorrow.

So, please heed our warning.
Don't watch Spiderman 3. It's not worth your precious time.

To be really, really honest, I don't think it was all that bad. It may be the worst of the three, can't have every third installment to be a 'Return of The Jedi'. I will say(as a avid fan of Spiderman) they did an alright job but there were many rooms for improvement. What I would applaud is the ending of the film. The fact that MJ didn't run crying back into Pete's arms after parade was over, was a relief on my part. At least not the entire movie is a down-right cliche. Plus, they added edgyness to the black Spidy and automatically gave Pete an emo appearance. Alright, so the outlook was 'far' too MCR for me (yes, it is official, I diss them over-rated wannabes). It may have been done as a desperate attempt for the old spider to catch up on current youth cultures, ever so celebrated 'indie' culture. You don't want me getting started on that topic.

So all in all, if you don't give a shite about how the story develops or how the characters are some how sliced and diced, you will enjoy this movie. It has all the cool moves and the action-packed sequences the trailer promised. However, if you are an avid or die-hard Spiderman fan, you have been 'warned'. This will NOT meet your expectations and you will laugh at how the 'new' Goblin looks like Shinobi 'air'boarding, how Venom practices auditioning as an extra in 'Aliens:Remake' and how Sandman may risk either killing himself or turning into a pile of mud by shedding tears.

Hello fellow Diedethians...how are your holidays? I'm sure you are all bored out of your bleeding minds, probably sick of the pencils and A3 sized papers; hoping in desperation that someone would liberate you from your misery. Oh well here's a proposition for you lot. Was talking to Scott and Helmi about it the other day, anyone fancy watching the web-slinging bloke in red tights? We are planning to go for the 3rd installment of 'Web-Slinging Bloke in Red Tights around NYC' on Friday afternoon. I know some of you will be handing in your option to progress to dearest Zhou Yu (another bloke whom I know some girls are dying to see in tights). So we figured maybe it would be fun to catch a film. So quick quick...let me know if anyone else is interested. I will have to be there early to get tickets for people who are interested to watch a couple of lads in tights fighting each other. Oh alright...it's Spiderman, Venom and Sandman! Just so you know...the 'real' Sandman looks WAY cooler and he does so much more than just swinging a fist at the gay bloke in red tights!

Still, just so you know...yes, I am bored out of my fucking mind! All this raining is not helping at all. I've been dying to go out and take some pictures, but alas, what of the bloody rain we've been getting?! Who is the bleeding bastard at the National Weather Centre announcing a drought season this year? Do you understand the bloody meaning of a 'drought'?! Anyway, as I was saying to Helmi the other day, if it wasn't for the rain, my camera and I (possibly my sketchbook as well) would be all having nice walks in the park and some other key places in the Klang Valley having a blast. I haven't been back here for the past 6 years (minus the 8 months I spent in TOA, trust me, it's as good as not being back in KL. The workload is horrendous!) Any suggestions as where does one go for some peace and quiet walks in parks or even surrounded by lovely buildings without the fear of someone snatching your bloody camera away? I finally found out what my login ID was and so forth.... *cough* Skip that.
=) For those who have READ my latest post in my LJ (or have been keeping intact with my LJ. Grrr XD), you know what's coming at you.

Alright Diedethians, listen up. What I am about to show you and tell you is something that may shock you. You may even want to know why something as radical and somehow silly like this exist, but let me assure you...it is very real. I was introduced to this organization by the gf and after some research of my own, I have adopted their cause and support them. For those of you who are majoring in AD, this is a heads up for you. I know this may not affect Malaysia in the next century but it will be beneficial for you in the future to know that such a cause/movement exist. You lose nothing and have everything to gain by learning about them and how they operate. More importantly, how they may eventually affect or even influence the industry that you are working in. I must admit that one of my personal goals is to be able to collaborate and possibly work with this organization in the future. I cannot link this with the class blog because this is nothing but bad news and headache for AD students. On the other hand, they may also be able help you become better at what you do by keeping your ethics straight.

Pay the Adbusters a visit and go through some of their work. They have an army of creative individuals comprising from all different walks of life behind them, supporting their work and cause. Their spoof ads are creative, at least the ones I've seen printed in their magazines. They are upfront, they are provocative and edgy but they do it for a just cause(at least to me personally, whether it is right or wrong really depends on you). I agree that our daily lives are being saturated by mindless marketing and endless buying chants. I need a break from that. It is my right to be free of mind spams. Now you know why Chris is a little anti-advertising. I am all for Design and Advertising for a the right cause.

Now that you know, you can find out more if you choose to. Read either this (which I am going to by as soon as I find it) or this.(which I have) I'm making my own blackspot shoes. Anyone else interested?

Hello, children of the revolution. Once again I come in peace, am making it a habit to start on neutral grounds with every single new post. I am here once again to remind my fellow TOAians and lecturers (who have now developed a habit to stalk this page), this is a BLOG! Whatever the mods say here are purely for the self-expression and to get one's opinion heard across the digital borders. We have a right to have our opinions and voices heard, if you choose not to listen to us in person well we're posting it for the ever prying eyes of the world wide web. If you notice your name mentioned here, don't be alarmed. It does not mean that we are all at war with you. You have your ground, we have ours and we're standing pretty damn firm where we are. If you feel offended by what is being written about you, we're sorry but that's just the way we feel 'at the moment'. It doesn't mean that we disrespect your or plan to do something terrible, we are civilized after all. There are always solutions to resolving matters, just don't make it any more worse by putting up a fuss. Let's just face it. You can't get everyone to like you, well similarly, I can't blog to keep everyone happy. Some will fall, others may throw tantrums but mostly we are all having a laugh. I am straight-forward and I know a number of us Diedethians are too. So we apologize (yet again) in advance for having opinions and voicing them out, the opinions remain ours and will NOT be pulled back. What's been said and done is now gone with the wind. Deal with it, as we live with the consequences of having to take responsibility of what we've said and wrote.

Now that we've got our matters resolved...who's planning to do 'anything' this week? I have had several Diedethians calling me up to tell me how boring life is. So I guess everyone's all geared up or already in a party mode. Well...hold your horses for a wee while, below are the list of people who need to get their letters from SRA. Yes that's right...the dreaded option to progress!

Bryan, Hailam and Zafri. - (Design 2)

I think a number of you got calls from zhou yu about Figure Studies 2. The full list will only be out on Thursday. I need volunteers to go to SRA and check for the rest of us, Diedethians. If you are going, please let me know and tell me the results so I can post them here for everyone's benefit. Thank you in advance!

For those of you who think this war thingy with Hooi Chiat is over...well THINK AGAIN! (Laughs like a madman!) Rin and myself is declaring cold war on all lecturers of TOA (except the Tans in DesignII and Pinky). Oh alright maybe it's just me! But still, I will declare war for the entire holiday and then resume student mode after that. After having a roar with one of the TOA staffs whose name I do not know but I will mention that she is one impatient bitch. Be civilized, will you? Bloody blowing the horns out loud for too long is actually quite annoying! I am standing right in front of you, yet you have to fucking jam the horns till the bleeding walls of Jericho come down! Patience is the virtue. I will apologize for double parking but you were just being absolutely rude!

War you want...war you shall have...

It's Here! It is here at last!! The last remaining day of TOA(for this term at least). All the sleepless nights and forgotten CSI episodes and the PS2 games...they missed me and I've missed them! I can now rest and relax with them and spend time with them! I do sound like a raving lunatic,don't I? Maybe not loony enough. Nevertheless, I know everyone's been busy with their assignments and projects and figures and (shite)...so there was no update on the blog. Oh alright...so maybe it was my fault that there was no update. Well I was busy! (Sits in a corner and sulks).

Still, I was browsing through everyone's blog and discovered that Chen a.k.a Mother Superior has updated her blog. In it says that Debbie is disappointed with our class performance. Well, well...let me put it this way. I am not saying that it was not our fault but in my humble opinion, we are not all to blame for this. Yes, we had great ideas, fantastic ones that would excite the eye and blind the mind. Who plans to dissappoint anyway? It's not like we pre-planned it fail, shite just happens. Plus, it's not like we've never spoken to Debbie or Yuan Yuan about it. Honest to gawd, we've been shot at by a fucking shotgun at point blank range, and GAWD it bleeding hurts! I don't want to compare attributes of individual lecturers as each has their own uniqueness, but let me make this clear; it is more difficult to find good teachers than good designers..mainly because teaching is a selfless and self-sacrificing job. I don't have to be teaching to know it is a difficult job. It's hard enough to manage your own creativity but to manage a group of messy and unpolished diamonds each with their own individual qualities, not even all the power of Sparta can help one do that! I will admit that I personally feel that my work has degraded, not that it was of high standard anyway. It was not because I didn't want to do it, I really wanted to do well and I tried my best to do so. I'm sorry if it turned out to be shite and it didn't meet your standards but am only human. Just not good with my hands regardless of how hard I try. At least, I tried and I did the assignment! Better than to have dodged it completely and run like a coward. It's just that I know you(you know who you are) follow rules to the T; for that I respect you. Then again, is it really that difficult to bend it a bit and cut us some slack? Drill us if you need to, but be reminded that we may choke. I think it would help a lot more if you pay attention to us, students instead of the work we give you.(like I said previously) Assignments are dead, but we are alive. If you judge us only by the work we give you, then you're not seeing the other half of what makes us unique. It may not have been easy for you; you know what, it wasn't easy for us either but we perform despite the pressure and the drilling. We'll still be here and I hope in the future, we would be able to have a mutual understanding because I know it will be beneficial to you as a lecturer and to us as your students.

Before I forget anything else, Monday night pls be at TOA as we are having 'din din' with Irene and Helena. No we are not having 'lun lun' with them although some Diedethians have been planning to watch a movie in the afternoon after handing up our HAD 'Myself'. I do hope that you remembered to 'do' yourself in a painting. I seriously doubt we'll be having another exhibition next term but with Hooi Chiat, you'll never know. If you have my MSN address, you may have glanced my nick and see me declare war on her? Opps...did I just say that out loud? (laughs) Oh well...yes, it's true. I do not regret that I did, not that there'd be any real fight, only cold war at best. She is going to mark my work afterall so I guess it'll be cold war until I see her again on Monday. My marks for HAD exam should've been higher. As Rin would also be at this with me, would it really 'kill' to give us the remaining '0.5' out of '3'? I've earn more ticks in one answer than a bleeding survey form, only fair to get full marks! Yes, I am a self-righteous narcissist and (with posh brit accent) a bit of a 'bastard'.
It does piss me off a little to not get A for History (of anything) as I've always fancied History as much as History fancied me. If you're wondering what that means, well...let's just say History always finds a way to deal with my rather non-conformist and rebellious nature. So who wants to play History trivia with me?

Anyway, before I forget...gummyboy has requested that I put up a video entitled 'Ipohmali' by a local rapper called Point Blanc to which I declined. However, I am allowing it to be posted to the chatbox on the right. Reasons for declining it, (ah beng accent) 'wa kay el mali, ipoh pigi matii!'. *Coughs* (regaining composure) As I was saying, I find the video poorly done and it is obvious to me that it tries very hard to mimick MTV/[V] style videos. To be brutally honest, it looks 'cheap'. Plus the phrase itself 'Ipohmali' is a complete turnoff. This has nothing to do with racism/bias, I just prefer good quality videos done with either fine acting or directing or stand-up. Just like the one below, another dose of Eddie Izzard who now teaches us the difference of US/British films.

Firstly, I would like to roll out the red carpet and introduce to you all, Sir Fucktard. Everybody knows who I'm talking about.

Dear Fucktard, you are a poor excuse for a human being. I do not know what you do or what you've been doing for the past two decades of your life. I'm sure the memories and fun you've had were great but then again, they just made you into the poor sod that you are. I'm really glad that the term is ending in two weeks time and for the next month or so we will all be free of your stupidity and self-righteous remarks. It may not last but I sure as hell am hoping it will stay that way. I do not wish to judge you in any way (lord knows I've tried!) but unfortunately for us; you've made it so fucking easy for us to pass a judgement on you. The more I hear of about you, I almost feel guilty for pitying you. It seems rather clear to me that you've established yourself by posing as nothing more but a lowlife; making excuses and insulting other people's intelligence as you go. If you have time, please feel free to stare at yourself in the mirror. No, no it will not crack. As you admire yourself (which I know you do), think about this(if you even know what thinking requires)...your face is an icon for all the sad excuses (like yourself) out there. I'm sure you'll feel proud, please do...because only a fool would do so.

Dear Wanker, you are even worse than the one you aspire to be. If he poses, you just want to be. Somehow I think you two deserve each other. Can't have rain without clouds now, can we? Just for you, I will make it very brief. Why don't you use that piece of muscle between your ears for once and realize what or whom you are aspiring to be? Ode to TOAians...

This post is dedicated to all the beloved lecturers of TOA especially the ones were (and are still very much) involved in molding us, 'Diedethians'. We want you all to know that what you read here are nothing but pure honesty and sincerity from us to you. What you read, is what you get. We have a voice and we are putting it to very,very good use. Should you find it rather inappropriate or offensive in any way, we are very sorry to say that 'we are NOT sorry for what has been mentioned' (unless stated). Quite frankly(yet again...honesty at work!), we are all just having a laugh really; by the sound of our laughter (or mockery, if you still insist) you may already know that we need laughter in order to stay mentally sound. So (as I have promised to Scott earlier) I will now list down the lecturers we are about to be completely honest with! (In no particular order...)

(1) U. Sankar - I do not take his class personally so I guess it would be unfair for me to be honest with him. But I have been told that the constant repetition of secondary school syllables is unnecessary and a misuse of time really. Well...only repeating what I've been told.

(2) I-Ching - Totally rocks our socks *COUGHS*... minds !! (smirks) No seriously... she is the only lecturer who made us truffles! Chocolate truffles! Oh how we love you, I-Ching! Rin says that your shrine is in working progress (or so I've been told)! We miss you.

(3) Gary - You have taught us more about laughing and crying than anybody else. Comm. Skills had been fun and Drama was stressful, but in a good way. You forced us to experience using our emotions and think out of our little conventional boxes (otherwise known as the mind). I will speak for the rest of us...'Diedethians' existed because of your classes. We are now fucking stuck to each other for the next two years, possibly even the next half of our lives. For that, we are eternally grateful.

(4) Debbie - We respect you. We honestly do! We know that you have gone through much trouble to have to deal with us, trust me, I know we are a difficult lot! I as monitor, will say this... I personally enjoy your classes. I blabber more than I should, but am only being honest. You would have inspired us much more if you paid a little more attention to us, instead of the assignment. Please don't judge us by our assignments, they are nothing but mere moments of our confusion.

(5) Pinky - We cannot help but participate in your lessons. You incite and inspire us with your thoughts and experience. I get a lot of 'Aha!' s whenever I attend your classes. All in all, very thought-provoking and challenging, yet awe inspiring with a dash of nostalgia.

(6) Hooi Chiat - Thank you so much for enduring our endless questions/doubts/toutures and David's 'ideas'!*Rolls eyes* We know,we know...we are trying our best to keep him at bay. Nevertheless, you give History a whole new meaning. Your carefree and down to earth methods of teaching stir our minds more than any artwork ever would;for that we express our love. We will always be grateful for your patience and how you handle our often messy and undeveloped creativity.

(7) Irene - This will be brief because quite frankly, there are no better words to describe how fortunate we are to have spent Design II with you. For a jolly good lecturer whom we will miss as you go, we wish you a relaxed and groovy journey ahead. May you lead a fruitful and incredible life as you excel further regardless of where your journey takes you!

Any other takers? (laughs) We've spoken. We're here and we're staying for the next two years. We will continue to be as we've been and hopefully mature with even more grace and creativity, always with a dash of wit and a shot of cheekiness!

youTube, iTube....everyone tubes!

I guess we're all very fond of youTube now, not that I mind really. I must admit I am a bit of a youTube addict. I've watched countless indie films (banned ones usually) and the entire fucking season four of 'The L Word' on youTube (in bits and pieces of course...the rest is imagination, have been told I have a rather vivid one as well!) All it takes is a little searching and whole LOT of patience! Quite recently, I may have even tried to convert my gf into becoming one, fortunately she didn't. (Guess you now know that Chris isn't always the smart one!! The gf is ... *grins like a fool* ) Anyway, I may post other Eddie Izzard clips (if you haven't already loaded them onto your 'tube'...you dirty, dirty gurls...*snickers* ) some time in the future.

As for now, I want you guys to check out this clip by one of my favourite bands, Sigur Rós. You will not understand what they are singing because its Icelandic, however I will include a link below that has done us all a favour by translating everything into good ol' plain English for our benefit. If you really fancy Surrealism, this is the 'band' to be stalking and obsessing about. All of their MVs are surreal, even the song and music itself is surreal with half a shot of expressionism and a dash of abstraction. I know David and Bryan knows these lads, but I guess most of us are into music and this one is not classifiable into one single genre. It seems to be whatever you think it is...new age, indie, rock, soft rock, fucking weird, ballad...whatever turns your wheels, I guess. If you do have the time, check out their other MVs on their website or youTube. I get inspired and moved every time I listen to them or watch their videos. I hope you would be too.

Note to Diedethians (all TOAians who read this because I know you do) ; there will a creative seminar organised by TOA at the Sunway Hotel this Saturday(31st March 2007) at 10am. Guest speakers are Anna Gerber and Anya Lutz. A handful of us attended the Student Talk earlier this evening and we were truly inspired by them. Although it is a shame that we are not permitted (legally) to publish independant publications locally, Anya has definately inspired me to work on one. Well, who would've thought that mistakes could turn out to be a good thing. Do you think you are prone to mistakes? Then you must check this book (by Anna Gerber) out to learn more about how mistakes may just turn out to be the break in your project/future career.

A different announcement for now, pls let me know (via sms) who will be following us to Malacca this Saturday(after the seminar). I need to know how many are going so we can arrange some transport. I've been told Zafri is going as well...Welcome aboard, mate! Let me know ASAP. If you are going with us, please remember to bring your CAMERA! If you don't, you will be buying lunch for the rest of us! Evil of me, yes i know; how else am I going to whip you lot into action?! Oh dear...do I sound like our resident 'Mistress' ? As you all know, I have never been a fan of P!NK and I've never been too fond of Pop either (Although I do love the Indigo Girls)...but this strikes deep in the heartland and sometimes I wonder whether we will ever learn the truth or even understand what all this bollocks about war on terror was ever about. Know your rights and voice them. Make a stand for yourself and what you feel strongly about. Use art...words...even sing if you have to, make them heard. Rights are as good as dead if you don't use them. Use your voice to make a difference in your lives.

Right...this will be a brief post. Datelines for Lettering and Calligraphy, 27th March@3 am. I will NOT (repeat...will NOT) accept anything after that. You will have to hand them in yourself and give a whole lot of reasons to our resident 'Mistress' on why your folder is not on the CD-R. Different timing zones and bad connections will not be accepted as a reason for late submission. If you know you have a problem with your Internet connections, DO NOT tempt fate! Hand them in early! As you know, emails can be as quick as lightning but it can also take hours before they arrive in my Inbox. Therefore, emailing me 5 minutes before 3am is NOT advisable. I will check my email at 2:30am and I will send you a confirmation via SMS/email after I've ensured that your attachment is intact and working properly. I must forewarn you that my broadband can be unstable, so if I do not send you confirmation about your attachment it means I didn't get yours or it's not working properly...please RESEND it. Should I not receive it (regardless of whose internet connection is bad), I bid you God speed and best of luck for the following morning.

I will also bring my trusty laptop on Monday. Please label them (as required) and pass your folders(yes folders, why...because she said so.) to me via pen drive and pre-SCAN them for viruses. Remember if my laptop screws up, so will your assignments. Do the wise thing, hand them to me in person via pen drive. It's the best bet to ensure your assignments are intact and ready to be submitted . As willing as I am to die with the rest of you, I will NOT die for you! Explore-a-nation Week!

Hey Diedethians...how was your week? I hope it was full of assignments and endless trips to TOA for no particular reason. We've all been there! As you all know, we've attended the Majoring Talk on Monday which either inspired or de-spired you to choose your Major for the upcoming 3rd term. As I now quote our senior,Jarod, saying...next term is suppose to be 'relaxed and groovy'. I am not sure how true this is but I guess it's really for you to decide. As far as 'some' of us are concerned, if you manage your time and assignments well enough...every term is relaxed and groovy. That was Monday, Tuesday was HOLIDAY! Weds was our fieldtrip day to Annex Gallery @ Central Market. All pictures are posted in Michelle.L's blog plus all contributions are welcomed. All in all, I thought it was a fun day even though I've been to Central Market for at least 7 times last year. I guess its the companion or people you go with that really matters.

As for HAD, we had our film day and I must say that most of us enjoyed the film. Only regrets are the censored scenes although some scenes between oh so handsome Pierce and oh so hot Rene were rather steamy (Sathom insisted it was very sexual!). I mean really...how many hot middle aged women do you see on the screen everyday (except for Marg Helgenberger a.k.a Catherine Willows...*swoons*) ? Rene was hot,note the past tense...in the film she was hot. Of course, our ex-007 was rather suave as well. Film aside, we had a dialogue session with some artists(aka seniors) which turned out to be a monologue session. I have to admit, I have kept my opinions to myself more often then I should. Reason being, am trying to be polite. I reserve the right to keep my opinions to myself and not critique another's work because I respect them. Though I do find faults and difference of opinions in some of the artworks described, I have decided to just zip it and let others take over. A sign of growth, as if I'm not grown up enough. (Laughs..) Still, I could unload them here but it will only bore the rest of you. All I can say is this, Diedethians...we can do helluva BETTER than this. Quite frankly, I am slightly put off Abstract Expressionism after the dia(mono)logue. I mean, is that how people interpret this movement? Abstract Expressionism expands so much more further than just Pollock. What of Rothko, De Kooning, Noguchi and Guston? People do a 'Pollock' because it's fucking easy! A drip here, a splash there...'Voila! An artist extraordinaire!' Personally, I am glad that no one has yet to de-fame Rothko or Guston, I would be dis-heartened if that happened.

That aside, our HAD projects are the most challenging to date. We will explain it further but I do know of some other TOAians who read of this blog so let's keep this a secret,shall we? As far as I can say for now, is that we have the green light from Hooi Chiat to proceed with this project. This will require our utmost effort and dedication, of course so does DesignII installation art. One great rock show can change the world, says Jack Black...well, One strong visual impact can change a generation, says me. What sayeth you, Diedethians?
Are we in this together or not? Are we preparing ourselves for a dine in Hell or a feast with the Gods? You decideth!

For your information, a small number of us will be going to a free monthly screening at the Japan Foundation @ Mini Auditorium, Malaysia Tourism Centre located near Jalan Ampang tomorrow evening (march 17 @ 4.30pm). Admission is free and the title of the movie is 'The Crying Wind'. Those interested please text Bryan or myself. Other events that may be of interest are as follows:-

(i) a solo art exhibition 'Didada' by Fathullah Luqman Yusuff @ Pelita Hati's House of Art located at 22, Jln Abdullah, off Jln Bangsar. Mon-Sat, 10am-6pm. Admission is free.

(ii) 'Bering', solo exhibition by Yusof Ghani @ Wei-Ling gallery located at 8, Jln Scott, Brickfields. Noon till 7pm.Exhibition ends on April 2nd. Admission is free.

(iii) Batil expressions: A Malaysian Contemporary Art @ Mustard Tree Restaurant Gallery located at GO8B, the Ampwalk, 218, Jln Ampang. Tues-Sat,11am-11pm.Exhibition ends March31st. Admission is free.

This is SPARTA!!

It's interesting to know that many of us who watched '300' have nothing but love and support for all the 300 men and one queen involved. (At least in my case, the Queen IS mine! Move over AJ, here comes Lena! ) As I have said before, the main reason why I wanted to watch this was because of the trailer which also happened to feature 'Knights of Cydonia' by Muse! When I first found out about '300' (because I keep track on Lena Headey's movies..yes,yes I know I will shut up about her now!) , I thought it would be a 'Troy' or 'Alexander' lookalike which turned out to be flops unlike 'Gladiator'. The more I google it, the more I liked it. It was pure coincidence for me to find out that it was also a graphic novel by Frank Miller! Oh heavens are very generous with me! Rin would agree (not because she agrees with everything I say but because great minds think alike!) and I know for a fact that Diedethians think alike or similar; so we are all great!! Laughs hysterically (yet again!) Anyway, after watching it and raving about how good it is...I finally settled down and gave the movie some thought.

Yes the scenes were fan-ta-bulous!! Death has never been shot more beautifully whereas blood was the ultimate shower of both blessing and curse(depends on how you view it). Never have I seen a camper straight movie glorifying buldging muscles and all its masculine glory! I swore James sat up straight throughout the the entire movie and Zheng was complaining about Bryan's drooling! (Down boys...just having a laugh.)
We all know about how Chen just cannot stand the sight of blood, well...I am proud to announce that Chen has endured the movie with us(despite the rush of blood to her head and hands as she covers her face every 5 minutes or so). I am oh-so-proud of her, we all are! Anyway, about the movie; I have also come to a conclusion that '300' either promotes fascism or exposes it in a rather glorified manner. Personally, the idealogy of Fascism is displayed throughout the film. Although at one point, liberty and freedom is the ultimate reason for war. Let us not be confused by this matter and how it relates to war on terrorism(which is another thing altogether). For the benefit of our general knowledge, I will include (below) a number of sites which will explain what Fascism is. Call me crazy, but I'm getting a feeling that our HAD II projects will be 'Spartified'! Read up and tell me what you thinketh of Fascism and Surrealism/Dadaism/PopArt. I have a feeling that this can be split into three and it will take a course of being split into three different movements; exposed in different mannerism.

Well...in case you didn't know, Majoring talks are on Monday(12th March) at 10am. This IS important and be sure that you attend it (even IF you don't give your fullest attention!) Remember to do your Figure assignments and we HAVE a fieldtrip to Pasar Seni on Wednesday at 11:30am. I've been notified that some of us Diedethians will be meeting at Kelana Jaya LRT station at 10-10:30am before proceeding to Pasar Seni together. Thursday is HAD film day (@10am)and Friday is replacement class for Irwin's Design Workshop!

The installation of the heart

Funny I should actually mention this...art installation doesn't seem to be the big deal it's made out to be. David, Mich.L, Ting and I were at the TOGallery this afternoon to help/check out the setup. My honest opinion, it was cool but there and then again, we weren't really helping. Hanging some bleeding artwork doesn't necessarily count as actual work/help, just mere assistance. Still, I hope they did well with it. The artworks were interesting though some were a down-right cliche. Given enough time and effort, I have absolute confidence that Diedethians will do much better. No offence, seniors...you guys were great. Note the past tense used; were. We are better. (Snickers and laughs hysterically) Seriously, this isn't blind faith or arrogance. I would like to call it, ab-so-lute confidence.

I know throughout all this time, Diedethians have been told again and again that we top the batch. I actually believe that we do, I doubt I am the only one. There is a difference between a person with talent and another who is hardworking. I know a lot of hardworking students though I truly believe we have talent. We are grouped together for a purpose, if 'fate' has us brought together in under one roof; I believe it is destined that we team up and strive forward. We are designed by our Creator(whichever one you choose to believe in) to be the best that we can be. Our plus point is that we're grouped together at the right time, right place. What are we waiting for? Truly if you believe you're destined to do great and wonderful things in life, start with the people around you; the fellow Diedethian that sits next to you. Though our opinions amongst ourselves may differ from time to time, I believe that we can truly be the 3rd Element this college has been waiting for. Again as I have said, this has nothing to do with being arrogant or the belittling of others. It is nothing but pure self-confidence and a little 'healthy' competition will help us develop our character,unity and strength.

For those of you who didn't know, half of us actually marched off to offer apologies to Debbie/YuanYuan for missing class last two weeks ago. It's not the apologies that really matter, I saw it as a sign of respect to our lecturer...but the big view is that we were humble enough to say that we were wrong 'and' we did it together as a team, even though it may have sparked off as an individual idea.

So what sayeth you,Diedethians? Are you guys with me on this or not? I want everyone of us to succeed. Plus, I can see that we value and respect each other very much. We are bonded in a way that is unique only to us, Diedethians.Take care, people...see you guys on Monday whereby classroom has changed(just in case you think we're still in Drama) E2, text David for details. E1, text either me or Rin. Be nice to the lecturers '(I know we are nice, but we can be hostile and scary to some people. Roooaaaarrr!! ). I love you guys...honestly I do! Hello, lovely Diedethians! I know everyone's busy with assignments. No matter what happens, never ever forget about your own health. All the best and hope we'll all pull through this term as well. As you all should know, we ROCK! With a capital 'R'! Not only did we top HistoryII and offend lecturers without knowing(yes, you know who)...we are kick serious arse with Drama. LOL, anyone fancy making a low budget short film during term break?

Just a quick note to everyone, we have one Drawing II class to replace. Time and date will be confirmed hopefully by this Saturday's class. Please ensure that you are able to attend the class after a time and date is decided. Missing is always an option, but we will all miss absentees dearly. As for the splash time at Sunway Lagoon on the 12th of March, the forms are with yours truly. Please come and collect them from me and (if possible) hand it to me A.S.A.P. I need to hand it in by Tues (if I remember correctly). As for DesignII field trip, I'm suggesting that we go to the Islamic Art Museum somewhere in KL. I know it's not very far away, but let be realistic. We have only one day, do we really want to travel so far just to visit a bleeding place for less than 3 hours before we rush back to KL? I did some checking and the Islamic Art Museum has some really interesting exhibits till June. On top of that, it's newer and (from the website) looks far more interesting than Balai Seni Lukis. Still, I'm open to suggestions...let me know if you guys have anything else in mind.

Well hello Diedethians...how is everyone? I know that I see you all everyday except on Sabbath, which both a rest and holy day, but I regret that I rarely take time to really ask everyone individually how they are. I may come off as somewhat stand offish but I do care for all of us. In my humble opinion, no other batch matters more to me than all of you...minor slush, I know...nevertheless all words spoken are from the heart and no where else.

Anyway, a number of reminders for all of you...Saturday, Drawing II resumes and you have to pass up your water colour assignment. Plus, don't forget to do up your 40/50 snapshots for L&C by Tuesday and to bring a big chinese brush, BFCutter,poster colours and layout pad. Design 101 for initial design and colour thumbs for 'Myself' must be handed to me by the end of HAD on Wednesday. No exceptions! Unless of course you want to parade yourself over to Design Room then by all means, be my guest. ; ) It is recommended that you also hand up early sketchings of HAD group project for Hooi Chiat's critique/Q&A session after class.

Since next Thursday is a holiday (Huurraaah!!), some of us suggested having a small gathering at Chen's place for makan and DVD marathon session,if possible. Personally, I enjoyed our wee gathering at Zhengster's...very bonding, I feel (NO, not that way you pervs..). Still, we are planning, of course... and for our muslim friends, fret not, the steamboat will be halal. It could also be a time of group discussion (since most of us are in the same group) for HAD. So let me know what you all think about it or better still, come up with something better. Till the next update, snap thy cameras away...

Updates! Updates! I know I haven't been updating and for that, I apologise. Too caught up with the new term (or rather lack of holidays) to notice anything else. So I will be constantly updating (hopefully) as of now, not that I elect myself to be the class monitor. I just refuse to submit to my peer of a younger age. (Sorry Dave, as much as I love you,mate...I just cannot foresee a future in us reversing roles) *laughs and cracks a whip*

As you should know by now, Saturday is a holiday. Do I hear people screaming in the background? Well good for you! So you will have the time and absolutely no 'excuse' to NOT be able to take pictures outdoors and 'AWAY' at least 10 miles radius from TOA. So I repeat again, for everyone's sake, for next L&C class; prepare a minimum of 30 pictures (20 outdoors/10 indoors) and pass up your calligraphy assignment (written on different layouts for each individual set). Tomorrow will be Figure II, you must submit 4 A3 size figures and 6 pieces of (blue) grid ready layouts. There should be 9 horizontal lines altogether. Then you have HAD with our beloved Hooi Chiat A.K.A Chiat...as she would prefer. Then you have Design II, prepare 5 thumbnails for the postcard of 'Myself'. Plus your group research on your initial design. That's all that I can remember for now, and if you are very, very hardworking...you can complete your watercolour artwork by this week and chill for the following week.

Attention to Scott; where were you today?! How dare you leave your poor classmates to do your presentation? (No offence, mate but seriously what happened? We miss you 'that' much!) As for the rest, keep thy leads sharpen as the force is strong with all of you. Mmmm...good blow, this is indeed!

Alright,alright....Zafri and I have had the pleasure of checking the OTP list 'twice'. The list remains unchanged and finalized, so to speak...however, should any other 'Options' be available to certain people, you will be contacted directly by your lecturers. So you had better be hoping and doing the 'God' thing that the next call to you mobile IS NOT an unknown number. Of course unless it's the number of your beloved lecturer *ahem, coughs!! Coughs!!* Then maybe you can count yourself lucky to 'finally' get his/her number then curse/swear/be grateful the fact that you have 'An' option to progress...whatever that maybe (*hint: twosome or 'dare I say' threesome.*)

Another thing is this. Since many of us are not so free on Christmas, Rin suggested maybe we'll opt for a NYE dinner instead. We'll need a list of people who can come (RSVP pls), a place we can all have dinner at (be it someone's house or a makan place) and time. So please do chip in on suggestions, and let us know ASAP. After dinner, we can go about our NYE plans. Anyone fancy clubbing?

The rest of the class is not listed in any other subject. However, the official result of the term will only come on on the 8th of January. So not having the OTP, does not necessarily gurantee that you will pass a particular subject. So let us all do the 'God' thing, whilst enjoying the holidays (not to mention doing bloody figure drawings), hope that the result for our class will be a pass through and through.

Lovely indeed, term has finally finished and we are officially free. Or so we thought... quick notice to 'Diedethians' (yes, that's our new name) 8 figures for our term break. Plus, anybody knows when we're suppose to be back at TOA checking for OTPs? (Option To Progress). Not that I want any one of us to have such an option, I'd rather we all pass even if it's just a pass, at least we'll still stick together as a class. Btw, here are pictures as promised. OK, so far the week has been going well. No real fuck ups (except for the weather) and everyone's still alive, though barely. We're done with Design I assignments but the real deal is yet to come. Just a quick reminder of what we need to do, do you own research and neat thumbs for your paperbag design. Take pictures if needed, we need to do at least 10-20 neat thumbs(free will of course) of both front and back of the paperbag. As for Finished Art, I guess we'll have to finish up the rest of the pop-up. Will keep everything else up to date as they progress...till then, keep your charcoals safe!

Of Brownies and Charcoal II

As you might have known by now, charcoal is a helluva fun thing to use/play/~~jerk~~ /smudge with. Only regret is that we are constantly ripped of by Vision Art. Three bloody ringgit per stick sounds more like a robbery than a fair transaction to me! I might try getting it somewhere else...a rather resourceful friend of mine suggested that I check out Central Market art shops. They are apparently cheaper but I'm not too sure how much cheaper it goes. Still, will find out and let the rest of the class know(only exclusively on this blog, talk about bloody marketing). Yes, I know it is evil of me but if the price is cheaper, I shall only reveal it on the class blog. So all those who are reading this and desperately want to spread the good word, well STOP!! I'm trying to get this blog active and running but quite frankly, I wonder if anybody ELSE reads this at all.

Still, Figure studies are back on 4 'A3' potraits. However, you have the choice of doing either (A) 1 'A2' size figure,2 'A3' size figures or (B) 2 'A2' size figures. So choose wisely as always, young Jedi. On Monday, we will be having our 'Inspiring Person' speech with Gary. So be inspired and may the Force guide you. (Do you see a pattern here?) Will be posting updates as soon as I have the time to spare. Till then keep your oh so valueable charcoals safe and short...

All i can say is, i apologise for not enjoying the movie Amelie during DesignOne Class.

That's because i was practically minding my own buisness by watching my animes on my psp. lol.

This blog is lagging, as you might have noticed. I have to apologise for this, I was too selfish and busy to let other bloggers manage this. I will be adding administrators this moment and you will get fresh post from fellow bloggers, Scott and Rin. Should you be interested to do so as well, let me know.

Not much I can say for the past week,except main highlights of the events that came about. We had a blast on Tuesday whereas Chen took a tumble. We watched Amelie for Design 1, (personally to my surprise) everyone enjoyed it. I remembered some of us mumbling about why the film had to be French and stating how it was going to be boring. I hate to state the obvious but, foreign films does not necessarily mean boring. Amelie was a fine example. I know a few of us (myself included) are fans of foreign indie films (independent production house). Should you need to find out more, we will be happy to recommend some for you to feast your eyes upon. I-Ching has yet again, put herself on our class pedestal as the most loved lecturer of CD068-1. She made us oh so heavenly chocolate truffels/brownies...oh the joy of savouring naughty calories! It was (as Bryan would say) 'Sweeeeet!' (Holding a thumb's up). Chen, in an unfortunate turn of events, took a rather nasty tumble in class on the same day. Being the helpful bunch that we are, all were concerned and before we know it, a practicer of the Force was summoned. All I can say is that, the Force was not strong enough...Chen was up and walking after that anyway.

Today, in fact, was supposed to be a semi-formal/smart casual day. But due to some very upsetting circumstances, our ring leader,David, disappointed those who answered his call when he appeared in his usual hoodie and t-shirt. So as punishment, he will be wearing a skirt some time soon. PIctures will be posted as soon as they are available. Charcoal lesssons to be begin tomorrow...so remember to buy your grey sugar paper and charcoal pencil/stick/thingy. There will also be a counselling session tomorrow at 9:30am, so come sharp! Class is apparently extended one hour later than usual due to this session. Please be notified! Till the next post, stay dry (due to monsoon)...

I don't know if I 've said this before but, I-Ching rocks!! Yes, you've heard me right ladies and gentlemen...if I had known better, this statement is a true declaration of our grateful salute and respect for our beloved DesignI lecturer. The conversations she has with us in class are beyond enlightening, it's a real killer. The fact that she's a cool, down-to-earth lecturer makes us all thank our individual gods that there ARE (at least one,if no two) lecturers who are human afterall. Yes, yes...I am reminded of what I had previously written about Debbie, my opinions remain unchanged. So here's the deal...which one do you prefer? A) Strict lecturer that rules with iron whip(if not fist). Or B) Down-to-earth and reasonable lecturer. Post your answers on our trusty chat box. My personal answer (though is not fair...) is not listed in the options. I feel that we need both sides of the coin in order to produce quality that matches the creativity we have in side. Iron whips keep us in check with quality control, whereas reasoning allows us to negotiate and generate creative ways to solve a problem, instead of doing it by the book. I am fast beginning to realize that Tuesday is my favourite day in TOA. Monday is also another favourite amongst our classmates...public speaking seem to be our class forte.

Anyway, just to keep everyone in check...for HAD(History of Art&Design), we each have two assignments. One group and one individual, which is our very own MonaLisa. Group assignment dateline is 28th November 2006 and Individual assignment is on the 9th December 2006(yes, you wished it was 2007). I know some of you don't fancy this class too much, but I must say...(personally of course, this is becoming my blog weh...) where would we be if it wasn't for history? I do love history, in general, art&design history holds a wee bit more of a turn-on for a history buff(yes, yours truly)...lecturers aside. (*ahem...coughs!*). Finished art is up tomorrow (Yes, Scott...I can hear you say 'Oh the JOY...!!' out aloud). Will update tomorrow if anything ordinary happens. That's right, WE ARE ANYTHING but ORDINARY!! So being in batch 06'aug-one means we are EXTRAORDINARY people. Can I get a cheer from all you folks out there?!

Well, well...this is yet another update. I must say too much has happened, as much as I will say that I seldom forget things, I confess...I cannot bloody keep up with all this! What I can say is that we've had nothing but endless fun and disaster throughout the lovely Halloween month of October. So I will,of course, very quickly run through everything that has happened the last week.

First off, we had a smashing Monday with 'jokes-r-us' in Gary's class. Many will recall of the very black Monday that batch 06'aug-one members were seen laughing out of control in Ming Tien/classrooms/Pyramid and other places. Then there was Design Tuesday, we painted something real-life and had a History test. After the test, we were all hyped up for ice-cream and so we marched out way to Baskin Robbins and proudly loaded our bodies with a single scoop of calories each. Wednesday...Finished Art Wednesday...stressed out due to submission of pop-up card neat thumb. Thursday, bleeding Design Workshop and supposedly fucked up Pengajian Malaysia test which of course, did not happen. Friday also turned out to be a false alarm when Rin suggested that we had a live sketch test on the 8th lesson. Well, it's being put off till next week. Then we had a surprising Saturday, our class reputation is at stake! 2nd batch has apparently left us flabbergasted with their drawings and BT is now giving us only 'one' piece to draw for Figures. So load up your leads, boys and girls, we are off to put our best foot forward! Sharpen thy leads and dust off the drawing board! Make sure that your drawing is something of the best and greatest effort that you can put in, into a drawing!

I will of course do my best to keep up with current events and let you know what happens as they proceed. Till the next update, pop up your ideas and grind in that gear box of yours.

Ice Scream...

For those of you who left early today(20th), you must know that you missed out on certain details. So I have listed a couple of quickies(*Coughs* ...Mind the pun). On top of that, you all have also missed out on an awesome class activity(well, sort of). After lunch, Team Hitler and Rothko(at least half of us anyway) joined forces in dominating the Sunway Ice Skating Ring. Yes, you heard us right! We freaking dominated it!! Team members were strategically placed below the stairs leading to the entrance of the Ring. The operation began with a simple gesture of hand waving and mild shouts. Almost minutes later, shouts tuned up and hand waving doubled! By the time David arrived, he turned the entire entourage into a mass campaign of endless sign-postings and finger displays (in as many positions as possible).

Not only were we stared at,laughed at and taunted at...we were actually admired by many onlookers( or so we've been told ). Eventually we entered the Ring at half past four in the evening. We literally set the ice on fire with our endless taunts,screams and harressments. No, really...someone mentioned about Ting breaking the Pyramid's Annual Screaming Competition without an audition. Plus, we've uncovered a brand new talent in ice skating. Our very own 'photocopier', Danny, cut throught the ice with a breeze with absolutely no help from our more experienced skater, Bryan A.K.A Mr. Sweeeet. Whereas, Ting,Mich and Zhengster, who were our rookie skaters of the week has been promoted to the rank of junior. All in all, it was a smashing activity. Remember how I mentioned we were admired...well, we had some girls from Asunta(if I remember correctly) whom we befriended and who dedicated two songs to us through the DJ booth. Reason being, having the bloody guts to launch an assault campaign against fellow skaters. Oh alright...to be honest, we were on a campaign against fashion criminals and were on a look out for cute kids we can feast our eyes upon. *Looks up* Did I hear someone cough 'pedophilia' at the back? (New jargon? Refer to our class pedophile, Ting, and ask for more info)

If you haven't noticed by now, our class DOMINATES...and I 'mean' dominates!! Look at every single class that we have combined with the rest, no one whacks as hard, parties as much, attracts as much attention. Sometimes I think we're just so 'full' of ourselves(in a good way, of course). The classes would be so boring without us, wouldn't it? I love my class, don't you? (Yes, I hear rather obvious coughs and sounds of violent vomit in the background somewhere) But no, I mean...seriously. We are one hell of a cool class. Our lecturers love us oh so much, they give us more work than any other class! Doesn't that just bring a tear to your eye? *smirks and puts her feet up* Anyways, it seems that out plans for a t-shirt is well under way. David, Danny and myself came up with a concept and we will be presenting it as soon as we're up with a design for it. As always, we welcome all ideas, suggestions, volunteering AND donations to this class project.

Hitler group did our class proud...once again! They stole the heart and compassion of our beloved History teacher, Hooi Chiat by giving a wonderful presentation about women's rights. Am awed in amusement myself, it was altogether great. Just in case you don't know, we are having our mid-term test the week after exploration week for History class. So dust off those notes and start collecting research papers, we are allowed to bring in references so choose your weapons of mass destruction wisely. If you do come across some interesting references, be sure to share them with thy friends. As Rin always says, 'Sharing Is Caring!'.

I'm sure most have you have read your emails and are probably confused about when we should hand in our assignments for finished art. Well, I say we should all hand it in next week. All in favour of the motion, SCREAM 'Aye!'. "Aaaaaaaaayyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeee.........!! " I must remind all ye faithful classmates, should you try to be a smart-arse by handing it in earlier, WE WILL BURY YOU ALIVE! When I say 'we', I mean the whole class will be at war with you (cold war that is...too young to remember? Look under 'Cold War' in Wikipedia) Though I cannot speak for the class, I will speaketh for my myself. I WILL come after you!! There is NO class tomorrow, so put all your feet up and relax for a while(before you bugger off to do your figures). Till then, take care of your leads and make sure you say 'Aye!'...

So it's been another week. Another week of endless classes/drawings/finished *bleeding* art/design. The interesting thing about this week is that we had a day off (a much awaited day) inbetween and most of us, I believe, rested well enough. Before that it was film night after communication skills class, we all watched 'Mona Lisa Smile'. I don't know about the rest of the class, but it was the second time I've seen it. As always, there are new 'A-ha's every time I watch a new film. For example, all paintings used in the film are similar to the ones Hooi Chiat(our history of art and design lecturer) uses in class. Plus, James made an interesting discovery that Tori Amos who was in the film, I can't believe I didn't see that before. Oh humble me... Still, it's no wonder she wanted us to watch this film, it may or may not reminds her of herself and us of ourselves(although I doubt that half of the class actually knows before-hand what we're studying anyway). By the end of the film, she had lost half of the class (which was combined with batch 06'aug-two).

Later, we had a very interesting gathering night. Well, it was weird and exciting in a way. Most of us never really hung out or had meals together during our ordinary hours, yet here we are hours later daring each other to eat super spicy taiwanese sausages. Wild, we were... this time I have the pictures to prove it...

Lordy...a month already?! Where the fcuk did all that time go? I sure haven't seen any signs of it. I hear that bleeding phrase again...'time sure flies!', yeah...'whateva...'. Of course I know we will not last any more than 7 months from now, but heck, why shouldn't we feel like a family? We're so (quote & quote) family that we make ourselves sick! Well it's not exactly how I'd describe it but I think you have a rough understanding of where I'm getting to. Still, class T-shirt, a class band, a class drama team... why should we even bother? But, oh yes...the 'big' but, the question here (my faithful elementary minds) is ..."Why shouldn't we?!"

Spending 7 months together is more than enough to form a bloody government to serve a whole nation! I know a number of countries who fought war after war for ages, only to form a government in a week after victory! So come on, all ye inspiring minds of the future!! Ask not of what the class can you for you, but what you can do for the class! So go on! Form the bloody band! Make the freaking T-shirt! For gawd sakes, go for bleeding acting classes if you need to. In all that you do, remember that you are contributing not only to the class but also to yourself. Every inch of improvement you make, marks a new threshold of greatness and propels you to a higher level of enlightenment and inspiration!

What are you waiting for?! For your putty erasers to turn into stones?! Move that arse of yours and get yourself involved! Every contribution, no matter the size, is for highly worshipped! Choose wisely, young jedi-ish minds...the force is strong with all of you. Make a choice, change your purpose in life and get involved! You have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

A Mid-Autumn's bittersweet night...

Dreadful...dreadful indeed, mid-autumn festivals have never been my cup of tea. Nevertheless, being freshmen in TOA we faithfully comply with the demands and orders of the SSD to attend and participate the event. The fact that it was conveniently placed below the auditorium and scheduled just after class ends, makes it almost impossible to NOT stop and be curious about what goes around. A sketch was in session, with barely audible chinese lines and muffled giggles from the audience; oh the wonders of spontaneous performance...or so it seems (to me personally). There were more spectators than they expected, the crowd spilled away from A1 and A2. The corridors and stairs were used as feeble attempts to catch a glimpse of the stage. I would love to say what I think of the acts (personally of course), for the benefit of our class blog and TOA, I shall keep my opinions to myself. Although it was not bad, it was nowhere near comprehendible..I guess it was good for a laugh.

The next act comes up. A band...for the love of the heavens above, a bleeding band! Yes, the music snob is back! I hate being this way but I am that I am...music snob I shall becometh, Bryan would agree. Again, I keep my opinions to myself...but the overall rating for the band is 2/10. For one, the choice of songs are rather awkward. A new single paired with some cheesy chinese number , ending with a classic Cranberries track is a SURE formula for a disasterous performance. Of course the masses will not realise this, (when have they ever realised it). Yes, yes...Chris is being an annoying bitch! When have I never been one... LOL. On the bright side, I have been told that our classmates have been wearing the class name with pride, or so to speak. Byran and Chen has apparently solved some rather nerve wrecking riddles and obtained some prizes as well...whereas, David , Mich and Ting took part in the mooncake design competition. Rin also mentioned a class act...whatever it may be. Will dig for more info, actualy Rin has offered to retell the tale when in the coming newsletter so be sure to check you mailboxes often. The easier way (of course) is to just run up to the gang and ask them what happened the night before. So choose your path, young minds....may the path you choose enlighten your curious minds.

Another rather ordinary day on a Wednesday morning. The class of batch 06'aug-one are doing their usual stuff, doing touch ups, getting ready for class. For some reason, Debbie's class causes more stress for us than any other lecturer's...('cept for Mr.Ari, he gets on everyone's bloody nerves, or maybe it's just me and Rin's ) At the half pass 9 exactly, class starts...ten minutes into the class, the lights go out...everyone gasps!! TCB lah...TCB! (*Total Class Blackout!)

The door opens with a slight push, a birthday cake arrives at the scene. Our Scottie boy bangs his head on the table screaming (Wah Lao eh!) in his mind. Mich and Dave starts singing the birthday song and the lights come on. Within seconds, the class joins in unison...the cake pops up in front of Scottie's face, with saliva's flying and aircon blowing...the candles go out, only to be embraced with loud cheers and hand claps! Our ol' chap has turned 18 and is officially a woman..ehem..*coughs..., a man!

It wasn't until later in the day we found out that this was also Debbie's last class with us. Oh well...tho' we've cursed and sworn to our hearts' content, we all agree that Debbie's our first and best finished art lecturer to date. Which leaves us to wonder how the 'other' lecturer's going to be like. Rin suggested protests and demonstrations, outside of TOA. I seconded but I guess we shouldn't steal the thunder from the graduating class busy selling kuih-muih, spagetti and over-priced cheese tarts and all. (Whichever it may be) Who knows, we might end up doing the same damn thing. No offense but why food? Aren't art students suppose to do something artsy and outstanding? (OK too much personal opinions...class blog afterall)
